Thursday, 5 November

Day One: Rights, Ethics & Legal Foundations

Before you create it, make sure you can make it. Explore chain of title, copyright, underlying works, life rights, access, contributor agreements, music and archive licensing, First Nations ICIP, cultural authority, consent and ethical filmmaking.

Friday, 6 November

Day Two: Safe Productions

The best productions are built around people, not just projects. This day tackles psychological safety, positive duty, sexual harassment, bullying, trauma-informed filmmaking, producer duty of care, mental health, insurance, risk management and what to do when things go wrong.

Thursday, 12 November

Day Three: Development Heaven

Turn the great idea into a project people can get behind. Dive into audience design, psychographics, public value and impact, then build the story package - from logline and synopsis to treatments and producer/director statements. The day also explores development planning, creative and market attachments, pitch decks, sizzles, visual references and mood boards.

Friday, 13 November

Day Four: Financing & Packaging

Turn your vision into a project the market can back. Get across business structures, SPVs, budgets, QAPE/QWAE, the Producer Offset, finance plans, recoupment, broadcasters, state and national finance, private investment, crowdfunding, sponsors and sales agents. The day finishes with a practical look at real applications - including what assessors are looking for and common mistakes to avoid.

With guest speakers from across the screen industry, practical examples and plenty of opportunity for questions and networking, Development Heaven is designed to give filmmakers a clearer roadmap from idea to application, finance and production.
